Being young is great and making mistakes is OK.

Science Intensive Week: Special Effects

 

Special effects are a visual trick which is used in films. Our school is learning about special effects such as, make up, lighting, props and making realistic effects like smoke, fog, snow etc. It's been an interesting science intensive week! We even had a chance to create fake blood and also got to see how make up people put fake scratches and sores on the actors body.  We've had a such a great time! 

                 

Cook Island Week Dress Up Fun

What an amazing way to end Cook Island Week. With all the students and teachers dressing up and having a great celebration. We have been learning the Cook Island national anthem all week this week and we are ready to present the song at assembly. Here are pictures of the wonderful day!! ENJOY!!!

                   

Glenbrae Schools Cross Country

Today is the day we've been training for and the day has finally arrived! Our school cross country is on! We showed participation, we enjoyed ourselves, we showed sportsmanship and we cheered on the other students when it was their turn. What a beautiful day!!

     

It's Cook Island Language Week!!!

Kia Orana! At our school we are celebrating something very special this week. It is Cook Island Week and we are all so excited to learn and celebrate this culture. In our class we have Lesley, Jason, Zion, Genevieve and Ezra who are all Cook Islanders! But within our school there are lots more who are from the beautiful country.

Kiwi Sport - Gymnastics

What a great way to begin Term 3! We have started Kiwi Sport with gymnastics. Our tutor teaches us how to stay balanced, teaches us how to do flips, how to roll forwards, how to use gymnastic equipments and overall teaches us skills that a gymnast has. Room 5 can not wait to learn more!

   

    

Our Music Teacher

Ms Bashnee playing us sweet music. She is our music teacher and she teaches us different instruments every Monday. We are very lucky to also have her as our reliever when our teacher has her release.

Sharing Time in Room 5

If we had the ability to talk to animals, hmmm what would we say and do? This is Lynn Matakaiongo and he is sharing his story to the class. Lynn did a wonderful job standing in front of the class to share his wonderful imaginative story. In Room 5 we love sharing our stories to our class members and teachers because it makes us feel good and it makes us feel proud. 

Our Pepeha Presentations

Glenbrae School had our pepeha presentations yesterday. In Room 5 we had four speakers. A pepeha is  a form of introduction that establishes our identity and heritage. Our speakers introduced themselves and told us a little bit about  who they are, where they're from and where they belong. Here's a video of Room 5's presentation. Our Water Fun Day!!

Glenbrae School had our water fun day today and we had so much fun playing games and competing against other house teams within our school. The teams are Kowhai, Nikau, Kauri and Rata! We had different water activity stations all set up. The house with the most water filled in their buckets wins. The winner was KOWHAI !!!!!!

GO WARRIORS GO!!

How amazing is it to have the Vodafone Warriors come into our school?!! Glenbrae Primary School is fortunate to have 3 Warrior players come and talk to us about making healthy choices. We learnt a lot and had fun with the Warriors. See you next time WARRIORS!!!!

Cool in the pool during summer!

For the first 6 weeks of school, Room 5 students have been swimming nearly everyday! We have been learning how to swim and how to be safe in the water. It is our last day swimming for term 1 and Room 5 students are going to miss swimming!

Practice Makes Perfect!

We are learning to sit appropriately during assembly. This is an important skill for students to learn so that they can show respect to the speakers. We are working as a class to perfect our skill.

 

Music lesson through Jellybeans Music

This term, Room 5 will be learning how to play the xylophone and the recorder. Our music teacher's name is Mr Kim. Mr Kim comes in every Monday and we have a 40 minute music lesson. Room 5 students cannot wait to continue our weekly music lessons with Mr Kim and explore our musical talents. Thanks Mr Kim for teaching us how to play instruments!

OUR CLASSROOM TREATY

Room 5 students worked together and we came up with 7 classroom rules that we all have to follow. As a class we agreed on the 7 rules and we are going to follow our classroom treaty and do our best to follow them at all times. 

First day back at school in Room 5!!!

Welcome to the students in Room 5! It's been a pleasure meeting you all and getting to know all of you individually.  We've been having fun and playing lots of team building activities. Can't wait to continue and see all the progress that will be made this year. Let the learning begin!!!!
