What is Emotions?

WOW what a year it has been!! Room 8 students have been learning about our emotions. 

This year has been a tough and challenging year for everyone. We've had to work together and have had to rise above all the changes that 2020 has thrown at us. 

One thing we had to learn to do was to, recognise our emotions and learn different ways to manage them.

Today Constable Fiona came to Glenbrae School to explain to the juniors what her role as a Police Officer was, why her job is important and if Police Officers were not there, then how does that affect us.

Police Officers keep us safe. They make sure our roads are safe by patrolling the roads and also stopping drink drivers on the roads. 

They are so important to our community and we are super lucky to have them!

We even got to sit in the police car and tried on her police uniform.

We enjoyed having Constable Fiona at our school and we learnt so much.

Greedy Cat Show!

Last week, the year's 1 to 5 attended Greedy Cat Show at the Vodafone Events Centre. All the students enjoyed watching the performance!

We giggled, we smiled and we clapped.

The performers were so talented.

 

Can't wait to read more books on Greedy Cat!

Get Your Game On, GBS!!!

 Well done to all the students who participated in our Get Your Game On! What a BLAST!!!

Everyone had so much fun! Everyone looked so awesome in their house colours.

Woah!! 

What a great way to end the week. A visit from the Firefighters here at Glenbrae School!!! 

The firefighters were so awesome. They explained to us juniors what their job was, why their job is super important and if they weren't there, how does that affect us!

We got to ask them so many questions, we chatted with each firefighter and the students even got the chance to explore all their equipments!!

We were so lucky to have them here at GBS!

Thank you firefighters for saving lives and for putting out fires.

Here is our school nurses at Glenbrae School. Their names are Nurse Yun and Nurse Angela.

We are so lucky to have them at Glenbrae School. The nurses look after our health by making sure we are healthy. They give us medicine, check our throats, skin and even our ears!!!

They help us by making sure everything is good with our health. We are very lucky to have Nurse Yun and Angela.

 

Pink Shirt Day

 

Here at GBS we wore pink today for ANTI-BULLYING!

Anti-Bullying Day is a day when people wear mainly a pink shirt to symbolise a stand against bullying.

We are Sunsmart!

 

Welcome back to school! What a better way to start Term 4 with learning how to be sunsmart.

As you know Summer is around the corner, days will be getting brighter and hotter. We need to start being sunsmart. 

For PB4L we are focusing on behaviours of Sunsmart.

In Room 8 we are ready for summer! We have our hats, sunscreen, shade and water!

Putting in work in our garden

 As you know, Room 8 has been working extremely hard in our garden.We have now started painting our planter boxes using vibrant bright colours. We have been putting in a lot of work, and we cannot wait for everyone to come and have a look!

What a beautiful day!

 

WOW!! What an awesome day it has been. We finally got to enjoy a beautiful sunny day eating our lunch outside. Some of us sat on the benches and some of us sat under the beautiful tree under the shade.

We even had the other classes joining us!

Sunflower Mosiac Art

Look at our art creation we have been working on for the past 2 weeks! Woah, isn't it stunning??? We worked hard, cutting and gluing the coloured paper onto our sunflower picture.

Kiwi Sport this morning

 

What a great way to start a Tuesday morning with some Kiwi sport! The students learnt how to jump using one leg and also both our legs, how to land safely and how to keep our balance once we come down. 

The students thoroughly enjoyed our lesson this morning. We cannot wait for Coach Lexie to come back next week to teach us a new set of skills. 

Thursday dance classes with Anton

 Another dance session with the incredible Anton! He taught us 3 new dance moves, they are the Mike Tyson, box step and the smurf. 

Room 8 students are loving Anton coming into our school to teach us really cool dance moves.

The students of Room 8 describe Anton as, cool, famous, groovy and brave! We are excited to show our dance to our whanau and our school mates. Watch this space!!

Fairy bread making in class

 

Today we made our fairy bread which we followed using our procedural writing of "How to make a fairy bread". The students followed their own procedural writing and followed each step to make their fairy bread. 

What a great hands on activity to do at home. All you need is butter, white bread and sugar strands "sprinkles".
